Public Nuisance Property List Available Online
MEMPHIS, TN – Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons announced Monday that an on-line database of all properties closed as public nuisances by the District Attorney’s Office and local law enforcement since 2002 is accessible through the D.A.’s website at www.scdag.com.

With a click of a computer mouse, citizens can view all properties closed, access all filed documents related to the properties (petitions, injunctions and orders), and get status reports on each property. The status reports shows the date when the most recent court action and, in some cases, the final outcome of the nuisance action taken against the property. In cases that are still pending, a color-coded chart shows if there is any task that needs to be completed at a certain property and which agency is responsible for the task.

“This database is available to all citizens, so they can keep up with the progress we have made in closing down drug houses, night clubs, motels, and other properties as public nuisances,” stated District Attorney Gibbons, whose office has filed petitions against more than 100 property owners under Tennessee’s public nuisance law since 2002.

“We want the public to be able to follow-up on these locations to see what is being done once the properties are boarded and the tenants are thrown out. If attention is needed at one of these properties before a final court resolution, citizens can see if that task has been scheduled and which agency is responsible for it,” Gibbons explained. “Not only will this information benefit the public, it will hold the D.A.’s office and other involved agencies accountable, which will lead to faster resolutions in these cases,” he added.

To access the nuisance action database, click on the “INFORMATION” tab at the top of the D.A.’s website ( www.scdag.com ) and select “Nuisance Properties” from the menu. At the bottom of the page, click on the “Search List of Nuisance Properties” link.
