Jury Convicts Memphis Man For University Of Memphis Student’s Murder

MEMPHIS, TN – Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons announced Thursday that a jury convicted a Memphis man for the murder of a University of Memphis student who worked at night as a dancer at an adult entertainment club.

The jury found Isaac Scott, 29, guilty as charged on one count of first degree murder for the death of Devin Covington, 21. Scott was sentenced to life in prison.

Covington’s body was found in a ditch near Pleasant Hill and Holmes Road on December 30, 2002. She had been missing for several days. A witness saw the victim leave The Gentleman’s Entertainment Club located at 3880 Lamar with Scott in the early morning of December 13, 2002. That was the last time Covington was seen alive.

Assistant District Attorneys Paul Goodman and Anita Spinetta prosecuted this case.
