Grand Jury Indicts Five Defendants for Tattoo Artist's Murder
MEMPHIS, TN – Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons announced Friday that the state Grand Jury for Shelby County had indicted five defendants for the murder of a Memphis tattoo artist inside her shop this past summer.

• Jeremy Young, 20, has been indicted for first degree murder in the perpetration of robbery, first degree murder in the perpetration of rape, especially aggravated robbery, aggravated robbery, aggravated rape, and attempted first degree murder.

• Princeton Price, 19, has been indicted for first degree murder in the perpetration of robbery, especially aggravated robbery and aggravated robbery.

• Talandus McCoy, 20, has been indicted for first degree murder in the perpetration of robbery, especially aggravated robbery and aggravated robbery.

• Jamal Williams, 21, has been indicted for first degree murder in the perpetration of robbery, especially aggravated robbery and aggravated robbery.

• Rashanda Clark, 18, has been indicted on the charge of accessory after the fact.

According to the affidavits of complaint filed in this case, on July 21, 2007, the victim was shot and killed inside Top Shelf Tattoos at 6415 Summer Avenue. Her husband was also beaten and robbed during the incident.

All of the defendants are being held in the Shelby County Jail without bond, except for Clark who is out of jail on $5,000 bond.

First degree murder is punishable by life in prison with the possibility of parole after 51 years, life in prison without parole, or death. Attempted first degree murder, aggravated rape and especially aggravated robbery are class A felonies, punishable by a standard sentence of 15-25 years in prison. Aggravated robbery is a class B felony, punishable by a standard sentence of 8-12 years in prison.

The above-mentioned charges are covered by the D.A.’s “No Deals” policy on violent crimes. Exceptions to the policy are made for legal or ethical reasons.

The charge of accessory after the fact is a class E felony, punishable by a standard sentence of 1-2 years in prison.

This case has been assigned to the D.A.’s Gang and Narcotics Prosecution Unit and is being handled by Assistant District Attorneys Reginald Henderson and Dean DeCandia.
