Last year, more than 1200 middle school students from 23 Shelby County Schools submitted essays for the "Do the WRITE Thing" (DTWT) Challenge.
Last year's two winners Nancy Guandique and Justin Baker won an all expense paid trip to Washington, DC for the National Recognition ceremony.
Justin and Nancy's essays not only won them, their parents and their teachers a free trip to DC, their essays were published in the Library of Congress.
Your essay could be the winning one this year.
All you have to do is write a 300-word essay on your ideas to reduce violence and crime in our community.
The deadline is extended until Feb. 29th, so there is still time left to enter your essay.
