Facebook Meeting Leads to Statutory Rape Conviction

MEMPHIS – February 25, 2016 - A 23-year-old man who had sex with a teenager he met on Facebook has been convicted of statutory rape, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Thursday.
Mario Guevara Corado, now, 26 faces up to two years in prison when he is sentenced on March 30 by Criminal Court Judge Glenn Wright.
The victim, who was 14 at the time, testified that she met Corado on Facebook in the summer of 2013 and that he picked her up at her home and took her to his home in the 3200 block of Rosamond and pressured her to have sex with him.
The jury deliberated about 30 minutes before returning its verdict on Wednesday afternoon.
The case was handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Muriel Malone.
