Man Indicted in Basketball Court Killing

May 10, 2017 – A South Memphis man was indicted Tuesday on second-degree murder charges stemming from a shooting last year on a basketball court in Belz Park, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Defendant Ladareion Greer, 24, is being held in the Shelby County Jail on $100,000 bond. He also was indicted on tampering with or concealing evidence.
The victim, Brandeon Thomas, 27, was an innocent bystander who was killed by a gunshot to the right eye, investigators said.
Greer argued with another man over a foul during a pickup basketball game, and the argument continued as Greer was walking away. Investigators said Greer then pulled a pistol and fired several times at the other player, missing him and striking Thomas instead.
After the shooting, investigators said, Greer fled and disposed of the handgun.
