Motorist Indicted on Vehicular Homicide Charges

June 9, 2017 – A Memphis man has been indicted on reckless vehicular homicide charges following a one-car crash last year in which his vehicle left the road, struck a wooden pole and then went head-on into a drainage ditch, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Friday.
A Shelby County Grand Jury also indicted defendant Travis Brownlee, 28, on charges of driving on a suspended license when the mid-day accident occurred last Sept. 13 at Shelby Drive and Gill Road.
Investigators said front-seat passenger Tequoia Scales, 27, was killed when Brownlee apparently lost control of his vehicle, struck a utility pole and went into a drainage ditch. A 22-month-old girl in the vehicle was treated at a hospital for non-critical injuries.
Brownlee is free on $20,000 bond.
