Roby Roby
May 10, 2018 – A twice-convicted 42-year-old sex offender was convicted Thursday of raping a young girl in her home just west of Whitehaven and at the home of an aunt in Grahamwood, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
A Criminal Court jury also convicted defendant Darrell Roby of aggravated sexual battery. He faces imprisonment of 37 to 60 years without the possibility of parole when he is sentenced next month by Judge Jennifer Nichols.
The incidents occurred in the home between October of 2014 and April of 2015. The girl, who was 7, told her mother Roby had raped her.
Roby also has another child rape case pending trial later this year.
The case was handled by Asst. Dist. Attys. Devon Lepeard and Sarah Poe of the District Attorney’s Special Victims Unit which prosecutes cases of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse of child victims; rape and aggravated rape of adult victims, and abuse of elderly and vulnerable adults.
