Causey Causey
Jan. 3, 2019 – A 21-year-old man has been indicted on reckless vehicular homicide and other charges stemming from a one-vehicle rollover crash in which one of his passengers was killed and two others were critically injured, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Defendant Triston Causey also was indicted on one count of aggravated assault resulting in death, one count of aggravated assault involving serious bodily injury and two counts of aggravated assault involving bodily injury.
He is being held on a $10,000 bond.
The crash occurred around 3 a.m. on Dec. 28, 2017, at Shelby Oaks Drive and Sycamore View Road.
An investigation showed that Causey was driving at a high rate of speed and lost control, causing the SUV to flip, ejecting everyone in the vehicle.
One passenger, Andrew Banks, was pinned beneath the vehicle and was taken to a hospital where he died 10 days later. Two other passengers were critically injured, including one who suffered a broken neck.
The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Abby Wallace.
