Man Convicted of Sexual Assault on Girlfriend

Feb. 22, 2019 – A 30-year-old man was convicted Thursday of sexually assaulting his girlfriend during an argument in 2016 in the East Memphis condominium they shared, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
A Criminal Court jury convicted Joseph Moran on two counts of sexual battery and one count of domestic assault. He will be sentenced next month by Judge W. Mark Ward.
The incident occurred on July 17, 2016, at their apartment on Jack Kramer Drive where the victim said Moran pulled off her clothes and forced her outside. She said he then pulled her back inside the condo and forced her upstairs where he sexually assaulted her.
The case was handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Holly Palmer of the DA’s Domestic Violence Unit and by Asst. Dist. Atty. Jeff Jones of the DA’s Special Victims Unit.
