Man Indicted in Parking Lot Killing

May 1, 2019 – A 24-year-old man has been indicted on first-degree murder charges in the shooting death of a another man as he sat in a car last summer outside a business in northeast Memphis, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Cortney Walton also was indicted on charges of tampering with evidence for allegedly selling the firearm used in the killing of Joshua Armstrong, 18, who was found shot multiple times on June 15 last year in the 6800 block of Hillshire Drive near Whitten Road.
After the incident, a tipster told police the shooter was Walton, who lives in the vicinity. When Walton was brought in for questioning, he admitted the shooting.
The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Michael McCusker.
