Whitehaven Man Convicted in Domestic Murder Case

April 15th, 2011- A Shelby County jury convicted Eddie Hoof for the March 30th, 2009 murder of Angela Greer and the shooting of another man.
Information during the trial showed that Eddie Hoof, age 28, kicked in the front door of Angela Greer's apartment at 4333 Graceland, Apt. 10, (The Peppertree Apartments). Greer, (Hoof's estranged girlfriend), and a male acquaintance were inside, and were confronted by Hoof, armed with a handgun. Hoof shot both Greer and her male acquaintance multiple times and Greer died on the scene. Her male acquaintance recovered from his wounds. Hoof, age 26 at the time of the shooting, was identified as the subject responsible and was captured later the same day in the 1400 block of Clementine. Hoof was found guilty of second degree murder, criminal attempt to commit first degree murder and especially aggravated burglary.
Second degree murder, a class "A" felony, carries a standard sentence of 15-25 years imprisonment, with no parole. Criminal Attempt to commit first degree murder also carries a standard sentence of 15-25 years imprisonment. Especially aggravated burglary carries a standard sentence of 8-12 years imprisonment. Hoof is scheduled for sentencing on May 13th, in Criminal Court Division Seven.
Assistant District Attorneys Carla Taylor and Jeff Jones prosecuted the case.
