Wayne Sellers, 32, was convicted by a Criminal Court jury of an aggravated rape that occurred on Dec. 3, 2011, in a wooded area behind 46 Keel just north of Downtown.
The victim said Sellers led her into a wooded area, grabbed her by the back of the neck and then forced her to the ground and raped her.
He was identified as the assailant six months later when DNA found on the victim and stored in a rape kit matched a saliva sample from Sellers after police developed him as a suspect.
The victim said she did not know Sellers, but had seen him on the streets a week or 10 days earlier.
Sellers was sentenced by Judge Bobby Carter.
The case was prosecuted by assistant district attorneys Cavett Ostner and Carrie Shelton of the Special Victims Unit.
