Man Convicted of Second-Degree Murder

MEMPHIS – November 20, 2015 - A gang member whose nickname is “Knockout” has been convicted of second-degree murder in a 2013 shooting in Frayser, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Friday.
Defendant Roy Robinson, 31, faces 15 to 25 years in prison with no parole when he is sentenced on Dec. 18 by Criminal Court Judge James Beasley Jr.
A jury convicted Robinson in the shooting death of Gergory Perry following an argument on June 15, 2013, near 1483 Baggett Drive.
The case was handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Tracye Jones of the D.A.’s Multi-Agency Gang Prosecution Unit (MGPU) and by Asst. Dist. Atty. Ann Schiller.
The MGPU handles homicide cases and other violent crimes associated with gang activity, specific targeted gang members and special cases assigned by the District Attorney General.
The prosecution team works daily with the MGU Operations team, using local ordinances and state and federal laws to hold offenders accountable.
