Gang Member Gets 25 Years in Killing

Nov. 1, 2017 – A 21-year-old man has pled guilty in the shooting death last year of a rival gang member following a dispute last year on a North Memphis street corner, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Wednesday.

Alexander Haydel Indicted for Double Homicide

February 28th, 2012 - Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weirich announced that Alexander Haydel, age 22, has been indicted for the murders of a Mississippi man and a Memphis Police Officer last summer in Downtown Memphis.
According to the Memphis Police Department homicide investigation, on Sunday, July 3rd, 2011, Haydel shot and killed 49 year-old Arthur Warren as the two men argued after an earlier domestic altercation involving Haydel and his wife. Arthur Warren, the ex-husband of Haydel’s wife, confronted Haydel inside the Double Tree Hotel at 185 Union Avenue. Haydel reportedly struck Warren with a fire extinguisher and then shot him. After shooting Arthur Warren, Haydel threatened to shoot another male and then attempted to flee the scene.

January 12, 2012 - Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich announced grand jury indictment of Samer H. Sakaan, age 19, on vehicular homicide charges and reckless driving.
Sakaan is charged with one count of Vehicular homicide involving intoxication, a class B felony, vehicular homicide involving reckless driving, a class C felony and reckless driving, a class B misdemeanor.
The two car crash occurred on May 27th, 2011. Memphis Police Department Special Traffic Investigation Squad, (STIS) conducted the investigation which determined that Sakaan was driving a pickup truck while under the influence. Sakaan's truck went into the opposing traffic lane on Walnut Bend road near the intersection of Walnut Trail Cove. Sakaan's truck collided with another vehicle, left the roadway and killed a pedestrian, William Marshall, age 36, of Memphis.
