MEMPHIS - FEB. 28, 2014 - A man who told the family he was living with that he was a church deacon studying to be a pastor was convicted of raping an 8-year-old in the home near Orange Mound, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said.

ATM Thief Convicted of Aggravated Robbery

MEMPHIS, TN – August 31, 2012 - A jury in Criminal Court Division X convicted Henry Earl Bates, age 48, of aggravated robbery, burglary of a building and vandalism over $1,000.00.

On Tuesday, December 13th, 2011, Bennie Osby, age 44, was sentenced to two life terms in addition to sentences totaling 105 years for an October 2010 robbery, kidnapping and shooting in southwest Memphis.
On November 3rd, 2011, Osby was found guilty of two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated robbery, one count of attempted second degree murder and one count of employment of a firearm while committing a dangerous felony.
The incident occurred in the 4400 block of Cimmarron in the Westwood subdivision of Memphis on Thursday, October 21, 2010. During the robbery of the two victims, Osby suffered a gunshot wound at the hand of his unnamed accomplice. He was arrested by Memphis Police Department officers as he sought treatment for his wounds.

Duo Found Guilty of 2009 Robbery & Murder

On Saturday, October 29th, a jury found Maurico Grandberry and Calvin Person both guilty of first degree murder of Free Baptist Strickland, age 34.
On April 25th, 2009, at approximately 11:30 pm, Memphis Police located Strickland’s body behind a vacant house at 2351 Shasta Street in North Memphis. The Memphis police Department Homicide Bureau conducted the investigation into the crime. Strickland had been robbed and had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. The investigation identified Person and Grandberry as the suspects. Both men were arrested on May 1, 2009.
