MEMPHIS, TN – On Friday, August 9, 2013, James Vinson (age 52) pled guilty to three (3) counts of aggravated sexual battery of three (3) young males under age 13.

MEMPHIS, TN – Clarence Tyrone Pruitt, age 43, pled guilty to aggravated rape of a woman in Midtown Memphis in 2009. In his guilty plea, Pruitt agreed to a twenty (20) year sentence, with no possibility of parole.

On Friday, April 20th, 2012, a Shelby County jury convicted a Memphis man for the shooting death of an eighteen year-old woman in July 2010. The jury found James Williams, age 40, guilty of first degree murder of Kawanda Wainwright. Williams was also found guilty of three counts of attempted first degree murder and employing a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony.

Frayser Man Convicted of Rape of a Child

January 27th, 2012 - On Wednesday, January 25th, 2012, a Shelby County jury convicted Courtney Knowles for raping his twelve (12) year-old niece at their home in Frayser.“Shelby County is stronger today because of this conviction and the bravery of our young victim,” said Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich.

On Friday, January 13th, 2012, a Shelby County Criminal Court Jury found Luis Guillen guilty of the December 2009 kidnapping and rape of his estranged 33 year-old girlfriend.Guillen, now age 25, was arrested and charged after the Memphis Police Department located him in an east Memphis apartment complex on December 30th, 2009.
Information at trial revealed that Guillen picked the woman up from her home for a date on Sunday, December 27th and took her to his apartment 2864 Georgetown.
There Guillen held the woman against her will by force and raped her. Guillen also beat the woman while he held her captive. She sustained two black eyes and bruises to her arms and body. She called police after Guillen took her home on December 30th, 2009. Officers spotted Guillen and arrested him as he was leaving her apartment complex.

June 9, 2011 - Shelby County Jury in Criminal Court Division 5 found Jeremy Stevenson guilty in the murder of a West Memphis man in Northaven in 2009.
Jeremy Stevenson, age 21, was on trial for the fatal shooting of Kerry Collins, age 49, of West Memphis. On November 19th, 2009, Shelby County Sheriff's deputies responded to the shooting in the 4900 block of Ruthie Cove in Northaven. There they found Collins fatally wounded in a parked car. Collins had been shot several times, and was pronounced dead on the scene. The Sheriff's Department investigation later revealed that Stevenson had robbed and shot Collins and left him to die. Information in the trial indicated that Stevenson, then only 19 years old, planned the robbery after having a female accomplice lure Collins into the area for sex. On November 21, 2009, Stevenson and the female accomplice were located and arrested at 4969 Ruthie Cove.
Stevenson was found guilty of murder in perpetration of especially aggravated robbery, and especially aggravated robbery. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with parole in 51 years for the murder, and is scheduled for sentencing on the especially aggravated robbery charge on August 15, 2011.
Assistant District Attorneys Paul Hagerman and Eric Christensen prosecuted the case.
