Man Sentenced to 32 Years for Child Rape

MEMPHIS – September 14, 2015 - A man convicted last month of raping a 12-year-old girl on several occasions in North Memphis has been sentenced to 32 years in prison with no parole, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Monday.

Man Indicted on First-Degree Murder Charges

MEMPHIS – June 24, 2015 - A Frayser man has been indicted on first-degree murder and other charges stemming from an incident earlier this year, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Amy Weirich said Wednesday.
David C. Catterton, 28, also was indicted on felony murder charges, including murder in the perpetration of theft over $10,000 and murder in the perpetration of a robbery.
Investigators said victim John Belder, 40, was found shot multiple times on March 5 of this year in the roadway at Scenic Highway and James Road in Frayser. He died later at a hospital.
Witnesses told investigators that Catterton was armed with a gun when he got into a vehicle with Belder at a location in Frayser.
One witness said Catterton called and admitted to killing Belder and pinpointed where the vehicle had been dumped.
Catterton is being held in the Shelby County Jail without bond.
The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Kirby May.
