Customer Indicted in Fast-Food Shooting
May 18, 2022 – A late-night fast food run that turned into an argument and a deadly shooting in January has led to the murder indictment of a 23-year-old defendant, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
A grand jury on Tuesday indicted Quandaryus House on a count of first-degree murder. He is being held in the Shelby County Jail on $250,000 bond.
An investigation showed that at around 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 15 this year, House and a female companion drove to the Dixie Queen in the 1100 block of South Bellevue Blvd. near East McLemore Avenue.
After placing an order at the speaker box, the couple moved up to the drive-through window where they tried to change their order and began arguing with store employee 18-year-old Maresha Williams.
The suspects eventually got their food and left, but returned a short time later with the woman in the driver’s seat and House in the driver’s side back seat. The car pulled up to the drive-through window again and House began shooting into the store.
Williams was struck in the abdomen and was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. No other employees were hit. House was charged and arrested about a week later.
The case is being handled by Chief Prosecutor Carrie Bush of the District Attorney’s Vertical Team 4 which prosecutes cases in General Sessions Division 12 and in Criminal Court 4.
