Man Convicted of Raping Step-Daughter
Dec. 9, 2021 – A 62-year-old man was convicted Thursday of raping his teenage step-daughter repeatedly over a five-year period during which time he fathered her child, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
A Criminal Court jury convicted Wendolyn Lee on felony counts of rape, statutory rape by an authority figure, and incest. He remains in custody and will be sentenced in January by Judge Chris Craft.
In testimony this week, witnesses said Lee began having sex with the girl in 2010 when she was 14 and that it continued for five years. In 2012, at age 16, she gave birth to his child.
Lee admitted to being the father of the child, but told investigators he never had sex with his stepdaughter, and that she had used his sperm to impregnate herself.
Lee faces similar criminal charges involving the victim’s younger sister, who have given birth to two children by Lee who is also her stepfather. Lee has said that, too, was the result of the victim impregnating herself with his sperm, and not the result of him raping her.
The case this week was prosecuted by Asst. Dist. Attys. Abby Wallace and Leslie Byrd of the District Attorney’s Special Prosecution unit which seeks maximum sentencing for repeat felony offenders.
