Man Indicted in Whitehaven Motel Murder
Jan. 21, 2022 – A Memphis man was indicted Thursday in the shooting death of a Horn Lake man last year in a Whitehaven motel, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
A grand jury indicted Fountain Holley, aka Fontaine Holley, on a count of second-degree murder. He is being held on $500,000 bond.
The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on Sept. 12 last year at a motel on East Shelby Drive just west of Interstate 55.
Police were called to the Skyline Inn where they found the window of a guest room shattered and the body of 23-year-old Jordon Briggs on the floor inside. He had a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Holley, 33, was developed as a suspect and was taken into custody 10 days later.
The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Jeff Jones of the District Attorney’s Special Prosecution Unit 8 which seeks maximum sentencing for repeat felony offenders.
