Teen Indicted in Woman’s Shooting Death
March 2, 2022 – A Memphis teen has been indicted in the shooting death of a 41-year-old woman as she was standing outside a corner store in southwest Memphis in 2020, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
A grand jury indicted Ladarrius Perry, 17, on a count of first-degree murder. He is being held on $450,000 bond in the Shelby County Jail East.
Investigators said that on the afternoon of Dec. 20, 2020, Perry, then 16, walked up to Tracy McGee and shot her in the neck and in the back in the 400 block of King Road near Millwood Road. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Perry was developed as a suspect, and seven months later he was picked up in the same area by police. He told homicide investigators he shot the victim because she allegedly had taken a small amount of money from his cousin.
The case is being handled by Chief Prosecutor Carrie Bush of the District Attorney’s Vertical Team 4 which prosecutes cases in General Sessions Division 12 and in Criminal Court Division 4.
